Doctor of Medicine Programme (The Joint Medical Programme – Srinakharinwirot University and the University of Nottingham, UK)
This program is a joint medical program established between Srinakharinwirot University and the University of Nottingham. Contact between the two universities first began in 1991 (B.E. 2534) with academic exchanges, research collaboration, and training for medical lecturers from Srinakharinwirot University. Subsequently, the joint medical program between both universities was developed in 2002 (B.E. 2545) and the first class of medical students matriculated in the academic year of 2003 (B.E. 2546).
As part of this course, students take part in a 6 month preparatory course at Srinakharinwirot University before departing for preclinical studies at the University of Nottingham for 2.5 years. During their time in Nottingham, students study alongside their peers in the undergraduate medicine course and are expected to complete an honours year project in order to receive a Bachelor of Medical Science (hons) from the University of Nottingham.
Subsequently, students return to complete 3 years of clinical studies alongside their peers in the Thai Doctor of Medicine program and graduate with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from Srinakharinwirot University.
During the 3 years of clinical studies, students attend clerkships in the major hospital departments including internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and orthopedic surgery. Other compulsory clerkships include radiology, psychiatry, community medicine, family medicine, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, anesthesiology, forensic medicine, and rehabilitation medicine. Clerkships are held at HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Medical Center, Panya Nanthaphikkhu Medical Center, and in our partner institutions at Vajira Hospital, Police General Hospital, Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital, Samutprakarn Hospital, King Narai Hospital, and local Ministry of Public Health hospitals in Ayutthya and Nakhon Nayok provinces. Students are able to attend electives rotations both locally and internationally. Students are evaluated with written exams, objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs), and by their performance during the clerkship.
Degrees earned: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Srinakharinwirot University and Bachelor of Medical Science (BMedSci) from the University of Nottingham

Eligibility:
Thai citizenship
Graduated or about to graduate from M.6 from Thai high schools (with emphasis on science and mathematics) with grade point average from M.4 to M.6 with a minimum of 3.00 OR
Graduated or about to graduate from grade 12 in international schools in Thailand or overseas with grade point average from grade 10 to grade 12 at a minimum of 3.00 or equivalent with A's in Biology, Chemistry and at least a B in Mathematics or Physics
IELTS (The International English Language Testing System) with a total score of no less than 7.0 in total and no less than 6.5 for each module
Career path after graduation: May practice as a physician in Thailand in both government and private sections conditional upon successful medical licensure by the Thai Medical Council.
May pursue postgraduate residency training.
