History, Mission and Structure of our Department
About Our Department - History
The Department of Anatomy was founded in 1985, along with the establishment of the Facultyof Medicine, Srinakharinwirot University with the responsibility in providing pre-clinical instruction of anatomy. Initially, the department was situated in the forerunning 2-floored "Gross Anatomy Building" along the Saensaeb canal, and offered a curriculum consisting of four courses: gross anatomy, histology, developmental anatomy and neuroscience.
As a consequence of the expansion of the capacity of the Faculty of Medicine, the department received funding for the construction of the current 7-floored "Anatomy" building. The 7-floored "Anatomy" comprises:
1st floor: cadaver-preservation and preparation chambers enabling the department to prepare cadavers in-house for instruction
2nd floor: the department administrative offices and the Anatomical Museum
3rd floor: Neuroscience and histology instruction rooms
4th floor: Rooms for instructors and Research Units
5th floor: Gross anatomy dissection rooms
6th floor: Room 601 as a lecture hall, room 602 and 603 for graduate-level courses
7th floor: Conference hall of the Faculty of Medicine (Prasarnmit)
During the construction of the present 7-floor "Anatomy Building", the department was temporarily relocated to the fifth floor of the Faculty of Medicine Building (Building 15). Later in 1997, the Anatomy Building was completed and allowed for the relocation of the Department of Anatomy back besides the Saensaeb canal in the Anatomy Building (Building 18) until the present day.

6. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wisuit Pradidarcheep (2015 – present)
About Our Department - Mission
As part of the pre-clinical instruction setup of the Faculty of Medicine, our department strives to provide a well-rounded, integrated and highly clinically-applied knowledge of anatomy, histology and neuroscience. With resources ranging from conventional cadavers, histological specimens, plasticized structures to electronically-stored anatomical images; our department possesses a high capability in providing both an up-to-date and a highly interactive instructional atmosphere for our students to obtain their fullest potential in their studies. In addition, our department strives to achieve an excellence in cluster research through our instructors' wide-ranging expertise to enable highly relevant research in the medical field.
